James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."

Day 7

1.  Last day of school today. I'm thankful for a break, a chance to clear my head and prepare for the future.

2. Laughter. We had a good day at school, where things flowed, I found my place in the world of juniors, we played and smiled. I like that.

3.  I have a few weeks of work. Guaranteed. Income.  Thank you Lord!

4.  I have a to-do list for Friday and Saturday and somethings are already crossed off.  Welcome, second-wind.

5.  I recieved my order from Uppercase living. Now to hang it. I love our home and I'm loving making it the best place it can be.  I'm thankful for a warm place to lay my head, a place to store my so many things.  I'm thankful for a flow of furniture and a place that says, come on in and stay a while.

6. I'm thankful for leftover birthday cupcakes.

7. I'm thankful for the reminder at Bible study that God is in the hard. He puts us through trials to strengthen our face, but He doesn't leave us to learn that lesson on our own. He has suffered like us, and so much more then us.

8.  Blogs. I'm thankful for this place to write my thoughts. I'm thankful for the many others that I read - good reminders that God can work mightly in many different ways in many different families.

9.  Nieces and nephews. I got a hug at school today, made a joke with one of them, kissed their squishy faces yesterday. I love the joy that they bring. Watching them grow up is a beautiful thing.

10. I'm thankful for the reminder to count my blessings.  Looking back over 7 days, I'm blessed beyond measure. May the Lord recieve all the praise and honour!

1.  Celebrating another year of life for my dear husband.

2.  Icecream cake.

3.  18d degree weather in March!

4.  A dozen cupcakes delivered right to our doorstep.

5.  Kindergarten students and the fun they bring.  They were trying to see who could outdo the other in who knew me more.  One said, "Your Domain and you came to my house.  In the end my nephew won because he was allowed to call me Aunt Theresa instead of Mrs. Douma.

6.  Crazy supper with the famjam.  Boy it sure is a lot louder then when it is just two of us.

7.  The sounds of birds chirping.  It is just so cheerful!

Day 4

James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."

Day 5

1.  Supper with my darling. Leftovers, chatting, relaxing.  One of my favourite parts of the day.

2.  Being back at teaching, I am reminded how much I love staff devotions. The idea of a whole school getting together once a day to praise God and dwell on His Word.

3. Preparing some birthday fun for Mike tommorrow (hopefully he doesn't read this tonight... :)

4.  A PRIDE certificate in our hands. Step one, check.

5.  Feeling a sense of accomplishment in going to work, and still making home things work and get done.

6.  Talking to a good friend of mine. I love having phone calls that take longer than you think, because it probably means that you found something good to talk about and connected again. I'm thankful for the people in my life that take time to ask questions.

7.  Having only 2 more teaching days. Is it bad that after only 4 days of teaching in a row, I'm counting down?

8. Mike signing on a new client today. 2 down, countless more to go.

9. "Godliness with contentment is great gain."  Feeling content in resting in God's plan for our lives.  Phillipians 4:5b-7 says, "The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in evertying by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  Our devotion from Tabletalk said, "Simply put, although we should plan for the future and pay attention to meeting our needs and the needs of our families, we must never let fear control us.  With due diligence we must anticipate what may arise and plan for it, but we must trust finally in the Lord's power and provision, not in our own cleverness.  No matter our problems, our needs, or our hopes, God is in control and we are not."

10.  My wall on facebook said, "Connor LOVES his teachers....but he would LOVE his Aunt to teach him everyday!!! He thought that was just the greatest!!"  Yay!  :)

James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."

Day 4

1. Sunday.  I love this day. My husband doesn't work, I get to go to church, and so many other reasons!

2. Our minister. We appreciate his ministry so much. He challenges us, teaches us, encourages us and brings us God's Word.

3.  A sermon on Mark. Remember, that even Peter fell. Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. A good reminder that I'm thankful for. Don't let little things creep in.

4.  Nursery duty. I got to play with children for an hour and a half!

5.  Good conversation. I have many friends at church that stimulate my brain. I'm thankful that we can talk and share and encourage.

6. I'm thankful for my family. We see them on Sunday morning for coffee and I love the chance to catch up and play with the nieces and nephews.

7. Leftovers. I didn't have to cook, and I didn't eat popcorn for supper on Sunday night. Both a suprise!

8.  Curly hair.

9.  Talking and making decisions. I'm thankful that we communicate well as husband and wife. I'm thankful that we can talk about hard decisions and feel good about making choices. I'm thankful that God is opening our hearts to be able to accept our situation and make good decisions that will work for our family.

10.  The Bible. So often I take for granted the ability to pick it up and read.  May I be challenged to do that more.

Day 1

Day 2

James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."

Day 3

1.  Having a fun and active night with the Kingdom Seekers. I love how we easily juxtaposition singing and Bible study with running and catching balls.

2.  A paycheck. Let's be honest here, money can be a worry. Today, a blessing.

3.  Friends that love the Lord, aren't afraid to talk about it, and keep us accountable. I love that I can talk to them and feel this great sense of 'sameness'. We are together in all this, the walk, the talk, the worship.

4.  Primary sing. I had to play for the primary devision and listening to those many hearts sing praise to God is such a blessing.

5.  Reading partners. I said to the classroom teacher today, "parents need to hear this."  50+ students in one room, reading, sharing, laughing, talking.

6.  Warm weather - I went outside at recess today as a favour for someone, and it was so beautiful out.

7.  Jesus Christ. I was singing at the top of my lungs in the car today - You are good.  It is well!  I stand amazed in His presence.

8.  Hospitals and health care. Things can go so suddenly wrong.  Knowing that God has placed us here in this land where we can access the knowledge of others is a blessing.

9.  A clean desk, at least cleaner than it was before dinner.

10.  A warm and comfy bed (I'm headed there now  :)  I love our duvet and blankets.  Having a warm hubby beside me doesn't hurt either ;)

Blessings

Day 1

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

James 1:17

Day 2

1. Being able to teach at Heritage today. It was so nice to connect with old colleagues, see former students, and do what I love - interact with kids.

2. A great chat with a friend, actually a few great chats with friends. About feeling settled, and about knowing that God holds the future.

3.  Studying God's Word. I'm in the middle of a study called "How People Change." Our frank discussions about life and struggles and the goodness of God is becoming the highlight of my week.

4.  Yummy supper - perogies - my favourite!

5. My husbands willingness to serve others. It's his fourth night out this week, and he has such a servant heart to help where needed.

6.  My SUV. I love it!

7.  The playbook. Silly I know, but right now, it's playing fabulous music and it has been doing that while I was cooking dinner, studying, etc.  It's a fabulous tool!

8.  Adoption.
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”  Romans 8:15

9.  Getting the to-do list crossed off. Today, 3 phone calls resulted in 2 appointments and a birthday present for the hubs. Sweet!

10.  Community.  People that love and talk and watch out and serve each other. We have a fabulous community in our local church, one that I feel very blessed to be a part of.

Every good and perfect gift

Our ladies Bible study is currently going through the book of James,
and this week, it challenged us to think of our blessings.

James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."

10 blessings a day for a week was the challenge.

Here goes.

Day 1

1. A good final visit to the fertility doctor. I've needed to for sometime now, but I did it today. I told them we were adopting, thanked them for their time and effort, and got a few test results back.  A burden has been lifted, I feel, and I thank the Lord for the end of that era.

2.  A good visit with a good friend to love on these cuties and take their picture.  Thanks Rach!

3.  Mike got the Heritage website that He worked a long day just before our vacation to get.

4.  The smell of dinner in the oven (pizza from a box, but still, yum.)  We have so much!

5.  A car to drive to and fro in.

6. A visit with a new friend that adopted from a private organization in Ontario. It's good to hear that it works, that the effort and time will pay off.

7.  For this cozy warm home, becoming more and more the place that we want it to be.

8.  For yellow, warm, fuzzy pants.  Comfy!

9.  For a new camera and a new lens. For the ability to use this skill and hobby to bless others.

10.  For a to-do list that is long, promises me that tommorrow won't be boring!
