100. I love this man

Wow! It's been a long time, but boy do I love this man! He's a great match for me.

The other day on his day off, we spent hours in the garage cleaning up - just so that I can park the SUV in there so I don't have to scrape! I'm spoiled - that he would spend his spare time like this, and that I get to park in there and not have to scrape the windows or go out in the cold :)

99. I love this man

This is the story of why my husband is the best Daddy, and the best hubby.

So Good Friday we were headed to my mom's place for dinner. Along our way we passed a swing set, at the side of the road, with a sign on it. We weren't sure what the sign said, or even really if we needed a swing set. So we kept on driving. A little farther on we saw a sandbox on the side of the road. That one didn't have a sign on it, but it looked like someone's 'garbage'. We drove on, discussing the backyard and whether either of those things would have a place in our yard.

Fast forward a few hours, some full belly's, and we are on our way home.

First we pass the sandbox. We drove another few feet, decided to turn around and at very least take a look. Our plan was to build one for Liam for his first birthday, but after taking a look we thought this one looked great. It had a lid on it and everything, perfect for our cat infested neighbourhood.  We stuffed it into the truck, hanging it over Liam and through the open back hatch and headed home, via the back roads :)

Past the swing set.

We drove home, unloaded, and then started to talk about the swing set. We don't have a huge backyard, but having a little swing set for at least while Liam is little would be nice.

Mike decided to take some tools, check out what the sign said, and see if it would suit our needs.

By the way, it is now about 10:30.
P.M.

I stayed home with a now sleeping Liam, and Mike set off. I knew that if the set looked good it would take a while to disassemble, so I sat by the front window to watch out for his return.

I waitied.
And waited.

Finally, I heard a knock at the door. I hadn't seen any lights from the truck, so I went to peek and there was Mike, carrying on his shoulders, at 10:45 at night, half of a swing set.

Apparantly only half fit in the truck, and Mike figured that since we were only about 20 minute or so walk away from there, that he would walk home with the piece that didn't fit.

Crazy man! I loved him more in that moment :)

Here's the proof!

A free swing from Robin and Jackie and Liam's smile tells it all!

Love you babe! Thanks for going along with our crazy free-finding ideas!

98. I love this man

A few weeks ago Mike was putting Liam to bed. When I walked in the room to see how it was going, Mike as standing there and snuggling with Liam, not yet in bed.  When I asked if everything was going ok, wondering why he wasn't in bed yet, Mike responded with "I'm just savouring the moment."

He's so good at that - taking the time to just enjoy the moment that is instead of rushing into the next moment that's coming.

Thank you babe, for reminding me that every moment is meant to be savoured, enjoyed, dwelt upon for just a little longer.

Liam's very first trip to watch Mike play baseball!  I love going to watch, and now I love that he comes with me to cheer sleep :)

Holiday Monday (95. I love this man!)

We had a long weekend this past weekend, and it was fabulous! We usually go to the cottage for this weekned, but because the baby is due soon, we decided to stay home. Saturday we did stuff around the house - including planting a vegetable garden (yay!) - and had Bible study at night.

Mike had to work on the Monday morning, but he took the afternoon off and we went for a hike down the gorge. It was beautiful! It was super nice weather, the colours were so nice, and it was great to be able to spend some time together just us, as that is going to end soon (come baby come!)

On the way home, Mike made my day!  We stopped at Avondale Dairy bar. We used to go there as kids, and I can remember swinging on the swings, waiting in line around the white chains, watching the cows in the field behind the ice cream shop, and watching the boats go through the locks.

Really, it hasn't changed at all!  The inside of the shop hasn't been updated in 20 years, the still make the best banana splits in town, and the swings are still there.

It was really fun to be able to share that with my love, and really, who can turn down a good banana split?

94. I love this man

When I'm dumb, or do something not nice, or mess up, or forget, or whatever, he forgives me.

And then still loves me despite the mistakes I make.

I love him!

93. I love this man

Dear brother and sisters of mine and Mike's,

In case you are ever wondering why your children want to come to our house, and then not want to leave, take a look at this picture.

It's because of their Uncle. He's crazy and makes them laugh like no one else can.

Sincerely,
the aunt married to the crazy uncle

92. I love this man

I had the distinct privaledge of working with him for a few hours over the last few days.

There are a few things that I've learnt that makes me love him more.

1. He works hard. Like all the time. Like dedicated for many hours of the day.

2. He stares at a computer screen for a long time every day. Me? After about 1/2 hour my eyes were all buggy and the real world outside of the screen was all crazy blurry.

3.  His stuff is c.o.m.p.l.i.c.a.t.e.d.!!! I worked with his new program - which is fabulous by the way - and every time I came across something I didn't know, I asked him. He in turn goes to lines and lines and lines and lines and lines of computer code, adds a plus sign, and fixes my problem.  Crazy!

Thank you babe, for all your hard work and for all that you do to provide for this family of ours!

90. I love this man

There are only two of us in this little family of ours, but we've started traditions that I love.

One of them is setting up the tree. It's not a quick lets get it done when I have a chance during the day, type of job. It's a night.

Hot chocolate.  Christmas music.  Together. Fun!

89. I love this man

I lay in bed last night, a busy day and week wrapping up.  Curled next to my man and stealing his heat (his biggest gift to my cold feet), I smiled. His rhythmic breathing told me he had already drifted off, but my thankful heart paused a moment before driting into sleep.

I have the best husband in the world.

Yesterday he:

- put the ribs in the crockpot and started it
- cleaned up the disaster that was our kitchen and started the dishwasher
- hid all the stuff that was mounding on our dumping grounds, aka the kitchen table
- threw a blanket over the Christmas gifts in the spare room
- hosted Mom and Dad Douma til I walked in the door at 3:45
- cleaned up the kitchen again after supper as I ran out the door to work again

Seriously. He did most of it for my benefit because he knows how I like the house to look when people come over.

Thank you babe!  You are the BEST!

88.I love this man

The other day, of his own accord, he sat down and organized his nuts and bolts and screws and nails and things!

My organizational heart skipped a beat!

87. I love this man

The other day, dear husband of mine installed these.

A garbage can and the compost bin. Both on the inside of the cupboard, hidden from view.

You'd have thought he bought me a new car with how excited I was!

Thank you darling - I LOVE it!

86. I love this man

I often forget that he came from this:

small town, Christian school with the church right next to it,

a farm, in the country, with the nearest neighbours a long walk away.

I love that he's a farm boy - sometimes I have to dig really deep to see it, but it is who he is, where he came from, and part of where he's going. And I love that!

85. I love this man

My husband is a lover of music.  At most points in any given day there is music playing in the office, a song playing on the playbook, or a cd in the car.

The other night we were laying in bed and after saying goodnight we somehow started talking about songs and how much we can be blessed by singing God's praise.  Blessed be Your name is a favourite of both of ours.  I love that we can praise God together in song!

The last hurrah, the end

On the holiday Monday we spent the afternoon at the beach on Lake Erie.

I don't think a view like this ever gets old. Doesn't it just scream peacefullness and relaxing?

Doug and Melissa joined us as well as some friends from church, the Westendorps.
It was a fabulous afternoon of swimming and chatting and snacking :)

And also, I love him - you know what he said when we got home?  I love taking you places where you can swim. He knows how much I LOVE that!  Thanks babe!

Part 3, I love this man 82

We went for a walk on Sunday night, just the two of us.

We hiked behing Mom and Dad's place to Ball's Fall's, reminiscing about the time that we went there in the pouring rain to get engaged :)

Thanks for the great idea babe! I love that you like to be adventurous together.

81. I love this man

He believes in traditions, just like me.

Every year at the cottage (except apparently 2011) we take a picture on Sunday morning after church at the cottage.
